We are launching our first podcast!
It is with great excitement that I announce the launch of VSC’s first podcast,
, on the day that we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We will be releasing one episode every other Monday, and today we released two for our launch, beginning with an introduction of our hosts and our vision for the podcast.
Solutions From The Yard (SFTY) is hosted by graduates of our 2022 Train Our Voices program and is focused on providing the listener with direct content from returning citizens detailing their journey and lived experiences. SFTY episodes are designed to educate the public on the many barriers they face, including trauma, homelessness, employment, mental health, and family dynamics. Here’s a brief blurb on today’s two episodes:
We do our best to take on Dr. King’s torch to work toward a nation where our children will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. Today, it’s clear that race, ethnicity, and economic status are telling factors in the likelihood of becoming justice-involved.
We hope you join us in conversations about incarceration, its repercussions on life on the outside, and ideas for solutions from the yard.
Be sure to check out the host's bios and links to episodes here: https://www.vscdc.org/solutions-from-the-yard
We will be releasing a new episode every other Monday at 7 pm and hope you can join us!
With gratitude,
